Little Chef: Cozy Cooking Chapter 1 Walkthrough: All Recipes

Little Chef: Cozy Cooking is a physics-based cooking game developed by Julien Truebiger, Erika Zakse, and Danny van Duist. The game is all about discovering lip-smacking dishes by dropping the right ingredients into cooking appliances to create new recipes.

Little Chef Cozy Cooking

Using the wrong ingredients unlocks bad dishes, but some of these are surprisingly quirky and fun to discover. These include rare creations such as Katana and Frankenstein’s Toast, which are worth unlocking despite being classified as “bad” dishes.

In this guide, you will find a complete walkthrough of all the recipes in Little Chef: Cozy Cooking, including both good and bad dishes.

How to Play

Click on the chef’s hat in the top-left corner of the screen to open the recipe book.

In the recipe book, you can view a list of undiscovered recipes, each represented by a silhouette. Click on a recipe’s silhouette to see how many ingredients it requires. At first, the ingredients will be displayed as question marks (?) and will only be revealed once you discover the correct ones.

In the example screenshot below, you will see a list of recipes on the left and the selected recipe’s name on the right. The question mark indicates one ingredient needed to make Baked Banana. If there were two question marks, it would mean the recipe requires two ingredients. You can combine up to three ingredients to prepare dishes. Some recipes will show three ingredients, so you might need to mix three different ingredients to unlock a dish.

Click on the bulb icon in the top-right corner to get ingredient hints. The hints are hand-drawn, as if a child has scribbled them on a piece of paper, and can sometimes be quite vague.

You will see a few bookmarks on the left side of the book. There are two separate bookmarks for good and bad recipes. There’s also a separate page for achievements:

To start cooking, drag and drop up to three ingredients into the cooking appliance and then click on the appliance. Little Chef has three chapters, and in each chapter the appliance changes: In chapter 1, it’s a cooking pot, whereas in chapter 2, there’s a microwave oven that does all the cooking for you.

Student Dorm

Chapter 1: The Student Dorm has 48 good recipes and 29 bad recipes to unlock. Let’s try them all! Before we get started, though, we need to unlock Shane’s locker to obtain additional ingredients. Otherwise, we won’t be able to prepare some of the dishes.

How to Unlock Shane’s Locker

Before we start cooking, we need to get the cheese and canned tomatoes from Shane’s locker. In the first chapter of Little Chef: Cozy Cooking, you will need to unlock the locker to access these ingredients. First, find the key in the kitchen. The pink sticky note attached to the locker provides a clue: D, 2.

Now, check the tiled wall. Move your mouse cursor over the hanging cups to reveal letters and numbers etched into the top row of tiles. The letters and numbers on the wall hint at the number of rows and columns on the tiled wall.

On the first row, you will find the following numbers and letters on each tile hidden behind the cups:

1 B C <blank tile> E (replace the blank tile with the letter D).

The number 3 is hidden behind the potted basil plant.

1-3 are rows, and B, C, D, and E are columns.

The key is in tile D2, which means column D, row 2. See the screenshot below to see the hidden key’s exact location. Click on the tile repeatedly to break it open, and you will see the key hidden inside it.

Pick the key and drag it onto the red padlock on Shane’s locker to unlock it:

You can move on to the next chapter only after completing all the quests listed in the to-do list. This means you will need to unlock all the good dishes and finish every quest to progress. I think dad dishes appear to be optional, so you can unlock them at your own pace whenever you feel like it.

  • Turn on the kitchen tap and wet the sponge. Use the wet sponge on the wilted basil plant to water it.

  • Turn on the kitchen tap and let the water flow. Keep it running until the sink overflows and the water level rises to the height of the basil plant. This is a quirky way to water the plant. It unlocks a new achievement if you don’t turn it off and the entire kitchen gets flooded!

To-Do List Tasks

Completing all good recipes + all tasks mentioned in the to-do list unlocks chapter 2. Here’s how to complete all tasks:

1. Cook pasta dishes: Cook eight pasta dishes using ramen or pasta as one of the ingredients.

3. Play All Cassettes: You already have the red and green cassettes. Insert them into the cassette player one at a time and press the play button. You can create a third cassette, called Remix, by combining the red and green cassettes. Make sure to play the Remix cassette as well to complete the task.
