How to Catch Fish in Fields of Mistria

In every cozy game that I have played so far, fishing is one of the activities I enjoy the most. I was elated when I found that I could catch fish in Fields of Mistria. I am sharing a basic guide to help you get started:

Visit the Tackle Shop

Soon after you earn 500 tesserae, head straight to the beach to purchase the worn fishing rod. Read my guide to know how to earn tesserae fast if you have just started playing the game.

Here’s how to get to the beach:

– From your home, move west to Sweetwater Farm. Take the help of the map to find this location. The sweetwater farm (west) is on the left side of the screen.

– Once you are in the sweetwater farm, head south (down) to the beach. Move down to reach the end of this location and you will find an exit that leads to the beach.

– On the beach, talk to Terithia. You may also find her in the inn. She will introduce her small tackle shop where she sells fishing rods and a small selection of fish.

Visit the Tackle shop and purchase the fishing rod for 500 Tessarae.

Fishing Waters

To catch fish, find a water body. There’s one on the extreme right side of your home and also in the town area, near the bridge. You will also find a water body next to the tackle shop.

Pay attention to the fish shadows once you are near an area with water. You can see the see movement.

Click and hold the left mouse button to cast your line near the fish. Notice the dotted line on the water surface? It shows the distance of your cast. The longer you hold the left mouse button the farther you can cast the line i.e. the more dots you will see.

While casting, ensure the dotted lines are in a fish’s line of sight. Release the mouse button after finding the perfect distance of your cast wrt the fish’s position and its line of sight. In case the fish is farther away, hold a bit longer and release the mouse button, if the fish is very close to your character, click and release to cast a line.

Quickly click to catch fish when exclamation mark appears

When the fish is ready to take the bait, it stops and rushes to the line. The fish then nibbles and bites the line. When it does, an exclamation mark will appear on top of it.

Fish costs way more than other resources. Sell them for profit.

When you see the exclamation mark, be quick to click the left mouse button to catch the fish.

Fish schools will also appear in a water body on random occasions. Cast a line to catch multiple fish in a row, but if you miss, they will scatter and move away.
