Love, Ghostie: Guide to Gifts and Tags
Being a spooky little matchmaker can be a lot of fun! Steal an item from the attic, kitchen, and other rooms in the manor and leave it as a gift in a resident’s room. Mention someone else’s name on the gift to set up a romantic relationship. Other cool things to do to strengthen relationships and increase happiness include fixing dates and assigning tasks, but more on that later.
When the game begins, you can choose up to four unique characters to live as guests in the haunted manor. New residents will arrive as soon as previous guests leave the manor. There are 12 unique characters in Love, Ghostie. Every resident has their personality and traits, also known as “Tags” in this game. Turning residents into lovebirds can be explained in this simple illustration:
Say there are two guests – A and B. You steal an item and leave it as a gift in guest A’s room, mentioning B’s name on the gift. You do the same in B’s room, gifting a new item, and mentioning A’s name. Both A and B are happy and start having feelings for each other. Repeat the same with the other couple, C and D. You can also set up a new relationship between A and C or B and D simultaneously, but that would be too cumbersome and confusing. Also, I am not a big fan of two-timing. Keep it simple, and you will forge a new relationship, wholesome conversations, and a new story.
There are no failed relationships in this game and while it does take some effort in choosing gifts for couples at later stages once you know their likes and dislikes, you can be rest assured that there won’t be any ugly breakups. It is such a feel-good game, and I felt like playing for hours.
When it comes to gifting, residents do have preferences. So the better the gift, the better the effect on the relationship. It does take some time for residents to fully develop feelings and you also get to know their traits, but that won’t be possible without trial and error. Luckily, there’s enough room for experiments in the beginning, so you can ship them around with each other and then you can focus on a couple with gifts and dating later in the game.
Quick Access
Getting Familiar with the Game
You have a limited number of action points (AC) per in-game day. The action points are used to steal items, gift them to residents, and assign tasks to them through the chore board.
1. Move closer to an item. See the red border? You can now interact with it. Press the spacebar to steal it.

2. Whenever you interact with something, you spend one AC. The total number of ACs is displayed in the top-right corner of the screen. You spend 1 action point when you steal an item. ACs are denoted by the hourglass symbol.
3. Move to a resident’s room. Move down and press the spacebar to place the gift on the floor. You have to mention someone’s name on the gift, so choose a resident from the list and then spend an action point to “Gift” it to the current resident. When a resident opens a gift, they feel happy, as shown by the hearts that fly out of them.

4. Every new day, you will find brand new items scattered all around the manor – in the attic, the chore board room, and the kitchen. The topmost area is the attic, the common “chore board” room is just below the attic and the kitchen is on the first floor, below the common room.
5. You will have limited items to steal in the manor. Fortunately, there’s a GHOST INTERNET, where you can buy and sell items. First, sell some items to earn “ghost money” and then use it to purchase rare, high-quality items from “eep! Bay”.

Move near the computer in the attic, and press the spacebar to interact with it. Select “eep! Bay” to buy and sell items. Press E to move to the sales section. Select a stolen item and click on the sell button. Sell items to earn enough in-game money, so that you can buy better items that you won’t find in the manor.
To buy an item from eep! Bay press Q if you are in the sales section. If you have enough money, select an item by clicking “Add to Cart”. Next, click on the “Order” button. The item will be delivered the next in-game day. Buying and selling items won’t cost action points.
7. The chore board room is an important area in this game. Go to that room and interact with the chore board (press the spacebar). You can assign certain tasks to residents to increase relationships and happiness.
8. Always purchase high-quality items from eep! Bay. But first, steal all low-quality objects from the manor and sell them for ghost money.
Every day, you will see three types of chores – dates, self-care, and house helper. Each chore costs action points, so if you assign three chores to residents, you will spend 3 ACs:

Dates: Improves relationships. You will have to assign two residents to go on a date. If the date is a success, the relationship improves.
Self-care: These chores include personal tasks, such as cleaning the room, listening to music, and choosing a hobby. It increases happiness on a personal level. So if you want to improve the happiness of an individual resident, assign a self-care core to them.
House Helper: Such tasks involve chores that can uplift the overall mood of all residents in the manor. Doing this will increase relationship levels with all residents. Cooking dinner for everyone, and cleaning the entire manor are some of the tasks in the house helper section.
Chores change every day, so keep an eye on tasks. Also, choose residents wisely as some residents will like to do tasks more than others and this can be understood with the help of tags.
Tags are nothing but traits and each resident has a set of unique traits that can be unlocked through gifts. With tags, you get to know more about a resident’s personality, and this will also help you assign a resident to dates, self-care, and house helper tasks. Knowing tags will also give you a clear idea of what gifts a resident prefers.
The Menu
Press the “I” key to open the menu. You will see the following tabs:

Residents: Shows the information of previous and current residents living in the manor. Click on each resident’s profile pic to know their pronouns, description, status (whether moved out or in the manor), and happiness level. Assign self-care and hous-helper tasks from the chore board to a resident to increase their happiness level.
Tags: Displays the unique personality of all residents. Gift-giving is the best way to discover the tags of a resident.

Relationships: Hearts show the relationship level of a couple. Every couple has four heart levels. Fill each heart by sending gifts to couples and assigning dates from the chore board. When a heart fills up, a couple reaches a new relationship level. This unlocks a new conversation, which may provide some hints for your next gifts.
Items: Shows a list of objects you have stolen or bought from the eep! Bay.
Notification: Shows the current in-game day events, such as residents liking gifts, moving out, checking memories etc.
Tips to Increase Relationship Levels with Gifts
Gifting is the best way to turn residents into cute couples. You might be wondering what gifts you should give to increase romance levels. Well, I have some tips for you. Hope they will be useful in your matchmaking adventure:
1. When you begin setting up relationships, you can choose any two residents of your choice. There are no restrictions here. Any relationship will bloom later once you give a couple of gifts and begin assigning dates from the chore board.
2. At first, it would be impossible to know what a resident likes, so gifting should be on a trial-and-error basis. You steal an item, leave it on the doorstep of a resident, and see their reaction. Nobody will dislike a gift as every item gives a little bit of boost to happiness and romance levels.
When residents open a gift, pay attention to the hearts and emojis flying out of them. If they fly out faster, it suggests they truly liked a gift. It also fills their heart at a faster rate. If only hearts fly out of a resident, it indicates that the gift is an average one, but still would provide some boost in happiness. But if there are multiple heart-eyed emojis along with hearts flying out faster, be rest assured the resident just LOVES the gift. When they really like a gift, there are higher chances of unlocking a tag. This will help you know more about their personality.

3. Always read diary entries to get to know a resident’s mood and preferences. Move to a resident’s room. Now, move to a diary and press the spacebar when you see a red border around it. Diary entries will give you some hints about what gifts you can give to that resident. When Felix the elephant moved in, the first thing I did was sneak into his room and read his diary. He seemed very bookish and loved to write, giving me the idea to gift him books, stationaries, and writing materials.

4. Hearts denote relationship level. Each resident owns four hearts. Press “I” to open the menu and then click on the relationship tab to get a list of residents with empty hearts below them. You will notice empty hearts filling up little by little every time a resident feels happy after receiving a gift from someone, is assigned their favorite task, or when out on a date. when a heart fills up, a couple reaches a new relationship level. When all four hearts fill up, residents reach max relationship levels and it’s time to move out of the manor. Residents are ready to move on with the next phase of their life.
You increase relationship levels between two residents when a single heart fills up completely and this can be achieved if they keep giving gifts to each other. If you leave a gift for A, make sure you do the same for B mentioning A’s name. This way, empty hearts will fill up faster. Reciprocation helps to maintain a happy relationship, in this game as well as irl.
5. Whenever a heart fills up either by gifting couples or sending them out on a date, a couple reaches a new relationship level. With a new level unlocked, it’s time for “relationship talk” – residents move to a common room to talk to each other. You can overhear their wholesome conversations by moving to the common room and pressing the spacebar. Conversations can be jovial, funny, or nagging, but in a cute way. Relationship talk can also serve as hints. You may get an idea of a resident’s preferences, likes, and dislikes from the conversations, and this will give you the next gift idea.

6. The quality of a gift also matters in boosting relationships and happiness. Stars denote quality. Before stealing an item, move closer to it and press the spacebar. An info card will be displayed on the screen. It shows the item’s value, size, tags, and stars. The more stars it has, the higher its quality. A high-quality gift also increases the chances of unlocking a tag.
7. Assigning dates is also a sure-shot way to boost romance between couples. Go to the chore board room and interact with the board. Assign two couples to date, but pay attention to tags and try to choose those whose tags match the date tags.
How to make the most of Tags
You can see tags everywhere in this game:
– While stealing an item, or when purchasing it from eep! Bay, you can see tags on the info screen.
– In the chore board, they are displayed below all three chores – dates, self-care, and house helper.
– When you open the menu by pressing the “I” key, there’s a separate tab for them.
Like I said before, tags reveal a resident’s personality. Some residents are “playful”, some are “simple”, and others are “complex”. There are more than 20 tags in this game. Six tags are assigned to each resident.

You will slowly discover tags once you start giving gifts to residents. High-quality gifts, hints from diary entries and relationship talk will provide enough idea on what to gift residents, helping you unlock tags at a faster rate.
There are very high chances of discovering a new tag if the resident “LOVES” the gift. It will be displayed on the top of the screen. Loving the gift is expressed by hearts and emojis flying out rapidly.
Once you start discovering tags, start giving items that have matching tags. If an item has an “Artsy” tag and you have discovered the same tag on a resident, you can gift that item to them.
You can also assign dates, self-care, and house helper chores to residents with matching tags. Pay attention to the tags under each chore and try to choose residents that have the same tags. Choosing a resident’s tag that matches a chore’s tag can increase happiness and/or relationship levels tremendously.
