How to Catch Fish in Everholm

Fishing is a staple of every cozy game, but what sets Everholm apart is its reeling minigame and gorgeous pixel-art graphics, which make fishing even more enjoyable. Feels so calming to see your reflection on the water while you cast a line. You can start catching fish right from the start, and this guide will help you reel in your prized catches.

From your farm, head eastwards until you find a bridge. There are three bridges, a wooden one and two concrete bridges. Choose any one bridge to get across the river. Press M to bring up the map if you can’t find it. Go to Zac’s fish market. Find its location in the map’s screenshot. (Hint: It’s near the lighthouse)

Zac’s shop opens from 13:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. Remains closed on Wednesdays and weekends. Keep that in mind when you want to sell fish to him.

Talk to Zac. He will be in the shop from 13:00 onwards. Wait near the shop if you don’t find him. Right-click on him and then click on the speech bubble to start the conversation. He will give you a basic wooden fishing rod as soon as you finish talking to him.

You can begin fishing near any water source. Try it out from the pier near Zac’s fish market. However, the most relaxing place would be the lake. “Legend says there are very rare fishes here. You can catch them under certain conditions.”

Click the left mouse button to cast the fishing rod. Wait for the exclamation mark to appear above the bait. Be quick to click the left mouse button as soon as you see it. If you miss the timing, you will fail and have to cast the rod again.

You will trigger a minigame if you are successful in clicking the moment you see the exclamation mark. To control the rod, hold the left mouse button and release it at times to keep the red bar positioned behind the fish symbol. The longer the bar is behind the symbol, the faster the green line will complete a circle.

Fishing mini-game — In the minigame, keep the red bar behind the fish symbol as long as possible to have the green line make a full circle.

When it does a full circle, reeling in will be successful and you will catch a fish.

To sell fish to Zac, right-click on him and click the yellow circle above him. Your inventory is on the right-hand side. From your inventory, select a fish and press the sell button. Click on the + button to sell multiples of the same fish.
