Olivia the Witch – Magic Shop Guide: All Potion Recipes

Olivia: The Witch – Magic Shop is a cozy “witchy” game that lets you explore Olivia’s magical world of spells and sorcery. Help her run a small potion store for all residents of magical islands. When Olivia passes her magic exam, she comes back to an island and meets a cute little spider named “Arachne”. The spider insists on reading letters and making potions for various known and unknown customers.

In this guide, we will help you learn how to grow herbs and berries, use kitchen equipment to process them, and make potions to help Olivia lend a helping out to ailing residents of the magic islands. On selling potions, you will also earn some coins and diamonds that will help you grow your potion store.

How to Play

1. You must follow a few steps to start making potions for your customers. Tap the round bottom flask/journal icon on the top-right corner of the screen.

Tap one of the envelopes to open the customer’s letter. This will help you know a customer’s requirements.

2. Upon opening the envelope, you will see a letter with the customer’s name and the potion they want in particular.

3. Tap the ? on the lower left corner of the letter. Spend 10 coins to remove the question mark and a silhouette of the potion will replace the “?”. Spend 10 coins again to fully reveal the potion.

4. Exit by tapping outside of the letter and tap the “Recipes” book. You will find a list of potions. You can easily Identify the potion on this list from the one displayed in the customer’s letter.

Tap on the potion. Note down the list of ingredients required to make that potion. The images of the ingredients are also accompanied by the procedure to extract them. You can see tiny icons of kitchen equipment. such as a magic pot, grinder, flask, dryer, etc. beside the picture of an ingredient. These icons suggest ways to extract the juice, or powder or dry them.

5. Exit the recipe book and visit the Garden to grow the ingredients.

6. To begin the potion-making process, tap the kitchen and use the grinders, dryers, mortars, and flasks to extract juice, dry it, or powder it. Once this is done, you can put all ingredients into the Magic Pot to start making potions. Tap to fire up the pot and keep tapping until the temperature bar on the bottom is in the green zone. When it’s in the green zone, a constellation appears above the pot. Join the dots of the constellation to complete the potion-making process.

7. After you have the potion ready with you, tap the flask/journal icon on the top-right corner of the screen again and Open the same envelope to read the customer’s letter. Tap the wax seal on the lower-right corner of the letter to complete the order. You will get the coins the next in-game day, but for that, Olivia needs to rest for a few seconds. Tap “Home” on the treetops and tap on the bed. Olivia takes a nap. Wait for 30 seconds to get the coins credited to her account.

The above was the basic gameplay. Now let’s go deeper into the potion-making process. We will start with growing and harvesting herbs, berries, and other ingredients once we take the orders, reveal potions, and note down the ingredients required to make them as mentioned in points 1-4 in the “How to Play” section.

Growing Herbs and Berries to Make Potions

To start making potions in Olivia The Witch, you must first grow and harvest herbs, spices, and berries. Once you have collected the required ingredients, you will need a combination of two or more herbs, spices, and berries to concoct a potion.

Tap the Garden to start growing herbs and other ingredients for your potions. You will find various herb gardens, spice and berry plots, cone and nut trees, a separate glass house to grow veggies for your pies, and a cute little house to grow mushrooms.

The herbs, spices, and berries section is where you will start growing the ingredients for your potions. But you will also need cones, nuts, and mushrooms for your potions. Before listing out all potion recipes, let’s first find out what herbs, berries, and spices you can grow:

The Herb Garden: There are seven beds to grow your herbs. Four are shown on your screen and three are on the right side. Swipe left to go to the additional herb garden on the right side.

You can grow herbs on all 7 beds. First, unlock a bed by spending coins and then clicking on the + symbol to choose an herb from the list. Spend 10 coins every time you select a herb.

After choosing a herb, you will have to follow a few steps to grow and harvest it. Tap the bucket to water the herb. It will take a few seconds to water it. Next, tap the fertilizer/compost, and wait for 15 seconds to complete the composting procedure. You can now harvest the herbs by tapping the checkmark.

After harvesting herbs, wait for the cooldown time. You can start growing herbs in the same slot. I would recommend purchasing all four slots, in the beginning, to grow herbs simultaneously. You can do the same for the berries and spices. For both, you will have to wait 1 and a half minutes each before growing them again.

The Berries Plot: This is where you can grow various berries, such as cranberry, blueberry, fig, barberry, etc. You will have only four plots to grow berries, and to unlock a plot you will need 300, 400, 500, and 600 coins.

The growing and harvesting procedure is the same as herbs, once you click the + symbol and choose a berry, you need to water and put fertilizers on it. Wait for a few seconds to complete the process and click on the checkmark to collect the berry.

Spices: Swipe left to bring the spices section. There are only two beds for growing spices, such as Crocus, Basil, Rosemary, Thyme, etc. After unlocking the spice bed, click the + sign to select a spice. Next, start watering and putting compost to grow and harvest the spice.

Nuts: Tap the trees labeled “Nuts”. You will find four types of trees, Tamarind, Cocoa Bean, Oaknut, and Nutmeg. To collect nuts, move the basket at the bottom of the tree and then tap the bark of a tree. Nuts will fall into the basket.

Cones: There are four trees to gather cones – Cupressus, Pine, Stone Pine and Agatis. Move the basket below a tree and then tap the tree bark to let the cones fall into the basket. This is how to collect cones.

Mushrooms: You may also need certain mushrooms for your potions. Tap the triangular mushroom house. You will find 6 different containers for growing various types of mushrooms. Container types are unique in shape and size as not all mushrooms will grow only in one container. Tap the plus sign and then select the mushroom type. Let the mushroom grow. Now, tap the checkmark to collect it from the container.

After referring to the recipe book and then growing/harvesting the required herbs/spices/berries, head straight to the kitchen to concoct a potion. Before that pay attention to the recipe page to note down the equipment to extract juice, dry, or powder the ingredients. You will find tiny pics of equipment such as the flask, grinder, mortar, and dryer beside each picture of an ingredient – these pics give an idea of what should be done to the ingredients before mixing them into the magic pot.

The Kitchen

In the kitchen, you will find the same flask, a grinder, a mortar, and a dryer as shown in the pictures in the recipe book. This equipment will be used to extract juices, and powder and dry the herbs, berries, spices, and nuts. Once you have done this, you can mix them all into the magic pot to make a potion.

Here’s a list of kitchen equipment to start processing the herbs, berries, spices, and nuts.

Flask: Use it to extract juice from berries and herbs. Tap the flask and then tap the “+” sign. Choose the herb from the list. Now tap the candle repeatedly to extract the juice.

Grinder: Use it to grind nuts and spices. To use the grinder, tap the “+” sign and choose nut, herb, or spice. Rotate the handle to grind the ingredients and then tap the small box to collect the powdered ingredients.

Mortar: Certain herbs and mushrooms need to be ground in the magic mortar. Select a herb or mushroom and then rub your finger in a circular motion on the screen to grind it. Make sure the grind meter above the mortar is at 100%. Keep grinding it to move the pointer towards 100.

Dryer: Used for drying herbs. Select a herb by clicking on the “+” symbol. Now tap the downward pointing arrow on the top. Trace the symbol by dragging your finger on top of it to cast a spell and complete the drying process.

Now that you know what happens in the garden and kitchen, we can move forward and learn all the potions. Here’s a list of all recipes to make potions in Olivia’s Magic Shop. As of writing this guide, we came across 10 potions, but we are sure there might be some more to brew as you progress through the game.

P.S. Certain potions in the recipe book need to be unlocked first to know what ingredients are there and how to make them. Spend coins to unlock them.

You don’t need to use any kitchen equipment for the cones. Once you have the required processed ingredients for a particular potion, put them all into the magic pot. Tap the pot to increase the temperature of the fire. Make sure the temperature bar is in the green zone and only then the constellation will appear above the pot. If the temp bar turns red or blue, the constellation will disappear, so tap to keep in that green zone. Once you see the constellation, be quick to join the dots of the constellation to complete potion preparation.
